Strategy and Policy conveys new insights and market intelligence to inform Tourism Victoria strategies and grow the industry. The team creates accountability across the organisation and provides policy support and advice to the Minister and other government stakeholders to advocate tourism issues. Strategic PlanningThe strategic planning team is responsible for creating an action oriented planning framework for the broader industry. It is also responsible for the Tourism Victoria’s reporting and evaluation functions. The area has a key role in developing action plans to underpin the Government’s 10 Year Tourism and Events Industry Strategy. It is also responsible for key Government processes including requirements of the Expenditure Review Committee. Policy DevelopmentThe policy development team is responsible for providing support and advice to the Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Secretary, Tourism Victoria Board, Chief Executive and internal management on policy-related matters. The primary role of the team is to prepare advice on Victoria’s tourism policy position. This can include responding to Commonwealth and State proposals. The area also takes a lead in negotiating with other agencies on various issues to facilitate a whole-of-government approach to tourism. Government CommunicationsThe Government Communications area works closely with the office of the Minister for Tourism and Major Events, providing ministerial liaison, managing ministerial briefings, correspondence, events and media releases. ResearchResearch analyses information to monitor and evaluate Victoria’s tourism performance. The team undertakes a variety of qualitative and quantitative research to better understand key market and product segments and evaluate the performance of campaigns and other initiatives.
