It is likely that at some stage in the future, a crisis event will occur either in your area or within your business that will cause visitors to stay away, or affect your capacity to operate your business. This section will help you to think through important information that will enable your business to cope better in this situation and to recover more quickly.   

Being well prepared for a crisis can also increase visitors’ confidence in travelling to particular regions at certain times of year.

Getting started

The steps involved in preparing for a crisis event are straightforward to work through:

1. Planning to manage risk
Identify, assess and manage risks, including potential crisis events, and document these findings.

2. Planning the emergency response
Develop a plan that outlines how you would respond if an emergency incident occurred.

3. Planning for business continuity and recovery
Consider how your business would continue to operate and recover after a crisis event, and document these outcomes.
